Augusta, GA – A call has been made to have the Richmond County tag office set up shop at Fort Gordon.
The CSRA alliance for Fort Gordon is requesting Augusta Commissioners establish a tag office on Post to ease the burden for soldiers getting vehicle decals.
Office space would be provided, but the Richmond County Tax Commissioner’s Office says staff would be needed, and they say that cost would be in the $80,000 range.
“I haven’t heard if he would re-direct people, or whether there would be additional funds needed for that, so I think…I definitely think there is going to have to be a discussion,” said Commissioner Sean Frantom. “Would $80,000 trouble you?” we asked. “I’d have to see what the workload is,” said Frantom.
With four Commissioners out Tuesday, the Public Service Committee did not have enough members to discuss the issue. The full Commission is expected to take up the proposal next week.
