UPDATE: 11:13am Thursday 7/16/2015
The final of four dogs under the Code Red at the Aiken County Animal Shelter has been adopted. Alana was adopted Wednesday afternoon in what a Friends of the Animal Shelter spokesperson says, was a very exciting day. FOTAS thanks the community for the outpouring of support to adopt these 4 dogs as well as stepping in to adopt other animals from the shelter on Wednesday afternoon.
FOTAS says, though it’s good news these animals were saved, the overcrowding situation at the Aiken County Animal Shelter continues. FOTAS hopes that the community will continue to step in to help by choosing a shelter dog or cat to adopt to help alleviate the situation.

At this time three of the above dogs are still available for adoption. Mack, the black dog in the above photo has been adopted according to Friends of the Animal Shelter.
The Aiken County Animal Shelter as well as Friends of the Animal Shelter are working tirelessly to find homes for five dogs this week.
According to Friends of the Animal Shelter, the dogs will be put down on July 20th if they are not adopted by then.
That’s because of a Code Red, overcrowded situation.
These dogs are at the Aiken County Animal Shelter and can be adopted for $38.
