Spectators Stay Cool During Augusta Southern Nationals

Augusta Southern Nationals signs to recognize heat stress.

Augusta, GA – It was a hot one Saturday, but the crowds at the Augusta Southern Nationals didn’t seem to mind.

Spectators brought their lawn chairs, umbrellas, and lots of sunscreen to the races today. A sprinkler was set up for people to enjoy and officials are urging people to stay hydrated during the long hot days. Some people splurged on the VIP passes for the weekend that gives them access to the air conditioned boat house on the grounds.

“Well we have VIP passes so we have been going in and out of the building up there, so that’s nice. They have water up there and we have been drinking just some drinks that they have out here for sale,” said spectator Nichole Myrkle.

Event organizers and police are on constant patrol of the event to ensure the safety of patrons all weekend.
