Augusta, GA – Augusta Commissioners are talking about what goes on behind closed doors.
At issue is whether the mayor’s chief of staff should be allowed to attend the closed-door legal sessions…meetings the public can’t attend.
Some Commissioners argue it’s against the rules, but others believe the city has bigger issues to deal with.
“You know that’s not important. We should be thinking about doing some of the things our constituents elected us to do and our dirty laundry should be aired behind closed doors, not in front of the media,” said Commissioner Bill Lockett.
The city attorney says there’s no written policy on who attends legal sessions.
The Commission voted to send the issue back to committee for further discussion.
