Augusta, GA – We’ll we all have seen the armadillos on the side of the road, but did you know they carry leprosy?
In Florida, there are an unusually high number of leprosy cases.
Experts believe the spike is because people are coming into contact with armadillos.
According to the CDC, the armored creatures are the only known animal to carry the age-old bacterial disease.
Doctors say leprosy is a devastating illness if you get it, but it can be easily treated if diagnosed. It effects skin and nerves.
Armadillos are usually nocturnal, but right now is breeding season in Florida, so seeing them during the day is more common.
Amid all of the shark attacks on the Carolina coasts, a couple decided to take a beach trip to the outer banks in something they made to protect themselves from the big fish. The Richmond, Virginia couple was caught on camera strolling into the surf homemade shark cages! The Bergmans’ say they made the contraptions of PVC and plastic. Not something that would excatly protect against a shark, but the husband and wife say it was a way to make people laugh. the homemade cages started as film props. They were going to film a spoof about a guy who comes up with something called “block jaw.” With photos of the cages going viral, they sure caused an ocean commotion!
President Obama is lamenting the fact that Jon Stewart is leaving “The Daily Show” before he leaves the White House. The President made his farewell visit to the show last night.
He joked about issuing an executive order commanding stewart to stay. Jon Stewart ends his run as ‘The Daily Show’ host on August 6th.
