Martinez, GA – WJBF News Channel 6 has learned that the Murder charge a Martinez mother was facing was dropped in Magistrate Court on Tuesday.
Lexis Fay Russell, 23, was charged with Malice Murder after her 5-1/2 month-old son, Bentley Reeves, was found dead in the bed with her and her boyfriend, 26-year-old Jacob Drew Harris, on Wednesday, June 17th.
Initially, Russell and Harris told Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators that one of them must have rolled over onto the child while they slept.
Russell is now facing charges of Possession of a Schedule I Drug, Manufacturing of Methamphetamine in the Presence of a Child, and Cruelty to Children in the 2nd Degree. Harris is still facing the charge of Malice Murder.
She appeared in Magistrate Court originally on July 14th, but her case was continued.
Her next appearance will be in Superior Court, but the date has not been set yet.
