PHILADELPHIA, PA — A service dog is being called a hero after calling 911 to save her owner’s life.
Our CNN affiliate in Philadelphia reports that the dog, named Yolanda, is trained to use a specialized phone to call 911 if her owner is in danger. When Yolanda detected a fire in their home she alerted authorities.
The woman was treated for smoke inhalation. Meanwhile, the Red Paw Emergency Relief Team in Philadelphia says that this is the second time that Yolanda has called 911. The first was last year when her owner, a woman in her 60s, fell and was knocked unconscious.
