Augusta, GA – WJBF Sports has added a 13th game to their Game Night Live schedule for the 2015 high school football season. For each of the first four seasons, WJBF Sports has televised live a game of the week for each of the 12 weeks of the regular season. In 2011, the first season of Game Night Live, WJBF Sports featured games televised live on Thursday nights, while for the past three seasons WJBF has televised games on Friday nights.
“For the first time WJBF Sports is adding a 13th game, and we could not be happier to announce that we are going to televise, Live, the Lucy C. Laney vs. T.W. Josey game on Saturday, October 17th at 4:00pm on MeTV”, said Bill Stewart, Vice President / General Manager of WJBF-TV. “When we first announced our Game Night Live schedule of games for this season we had the Laney vs. Josey game on the schedule for Friday, October 16th, however we later learned that the game was going to be played on Saturday, October 17th, so we replaced that game on our TV schedule with Augusta Prep vs. Westminster, which is another outstanding game that features a great local rivalry. However, we were very disappointed that we were not going to televise one of the biggest rivalry games in our area (Laney vs. Josey) so we contacted Mr. George Bailey, the athletic director for all Richmond County high schools, and asked Mr. Bailey if we could televise live the Laney vs. Josey game on Saturday, October 17th and Mr. Bailey agreed, and thanked us for adding the 13th game to our schedule, and we are excited to do so,” added Stewart.
Game Night Live begins its fourth season of televising live high school football in the CSRA on Friday, August 21st as the North Augusta Yellow Jackets take on the Lakeside Panthers at Lakeside High School. Each telecast airs live at 7:30pm on MeTV with the opening kickoff at 7:35pm. The game is also streamed live on WJBF.com. The games are re-broadcasts each Sunday at 12 Noon on WJBF News Channel 6.
