Alabama Sorority Alpha Phi Yanks Recruitment Video After Internet Uproar

Tuscaloosa, AL – Perhaps never before has a sorority recruitment video been responsible for such an uproar on the Internet.

A video from the University of Alabama’s Alpha Phi sorority chapter has gotten so much backlash that, after getting more than 700,000 views on YouTube, the video was removed from the site.

The video features 72 women frolicking across a football field, jumping in a lake, and blowing handfuls of glitter.

One op-ed article on AL.com called the video “worse for women than Donald Trump,” criticizing the video’s lack of diversity and calling it “reductive and objectifying.”

Supporters of the video, meanwhile, argue that other recruitment videos from sorority chapters at the University of Arizona and University of Miami chose to highlight similar aesthetics.

The sorority chapter has not responded to ABC News’ requests for comment.

In a statement, the University of Alabama said the video “is not reflective of UA’s expectations for student organizations to be responsible digital citizens.”
