NEW YORK (ABC News) – Actor Morgan Freeman is mourning the death of his granddaughter, who was reportedly stabbed to death in New York City Sunday morning.
The actor said in a Facebook post: “I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter Edena Hines. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. -M”
E’Dena Hines, 33, was found lying on a street near her apartment. She reportedly had several stab wounds to her chest, according to the New York Police Department.
A 30-year-old man was taken into custody, but had not been charged as of late Sunday afternoon, according to the NYPD.
Police are investigating.
Hines was an actress who had appeared in “Moll Flanders” and “5 Flights Up”. She had reportedly had recently finished filming “Landing Up” which was scheduled for release in 2016.
