Son Contains Fire After Lightning Strikes Home

Lightning Strikes Hot Water Heater

Aiken County, South Carolina–The Eureka Fire Department responded to a house on Old Friar Road this afternoon.
The fire chief says lightning struck a power line and set the hot water heater on fire.
The homeowner’s son was on the phone and felt the shock. He noticed his hand was burned. They then discovered that the water heater was on fire. The son got a fire extinguisher and put it out.
The fire chief says the son’s quick actions saved the house and possibly their lives.
