Augusta, GA (WJBF) — No shoes, no problem for Augusta Prep fan Pete Bachelder. Bachelder, whose son is a linebacker and running back for the Cavaliers, won a halftime contest at Friday night’s Augusta Prep football game at Augusta Christian. He got the chance to try to kick a 40 yard field goal to win an Acura for a year. Despite having no football playing experience, and no shoes (he was wearing flip-flops, so he decided to kick bare foot), he made it. He says he never doubted he would do it. “I never had a thought that I wasn’t going to make it.”
Bachelder had the option to take an Acura for a year or $2000 cash. He decided to take the cash and says he will donate some of the money back to Augusta Prep.
