Augusta, GA – The woman who reportedly ran over an elderly woman in a crosswalk on the campus of Augusta University on Tuesday, August 25th has now been charged in the incident.
Jo McGahee, 76, died from injuries she suffered in the incident on Monday, September 14th.
Katherine Westerfield has now been charged with Failure to Yield Right of Way – Pedestrian In Crosswalk, and 2nd Degree Homicide by Vehicle.

Augusta, GA – We have just learned that Jo McGahee, 76, the victim hit in the crosswalk at Georgia Regents University was pronounced dead at 1:30 p.m. on September 14th.
No word if the driver will face charges.

Augusta, GA – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has released information concerning a pedestrian being struck in a crosswalk on the campus of Georgia Regents University Tuesday night.
A Sheriff’s Office spokesperson tells us, at approximately 6:47 p.m. Tuesday night, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division investigators responded to the crosswalk located at Harper Street and Cushing Lane in reference to a pedestrian being struck. The crosswalk is near the Georgia Regents Medical Center Emergency Department.
According to the spokesperson, the driver of a vehicle was traveling east on Harper Street at Cushing Lane when she stopped for a stop sign at the pedestrian crossing. A pedestrian entered the crosswalk walking southbound. The driver told investigators she looked to the left and back to the right and was not aware that the pedestrian had entered the crosswalk. The driver then reportedly drove forward and struck the pedestrian with the front of the vehicle one. The pedestrian fell to the ground and struck her head, then the vehicle reportedly rolled over her legs.
The woman who was struck is currently in a hospital receiving medical treatment. Her condition has not been released.
We are told the investigation into the incident is ongoing and charges are pending against the driver.
