Augusta, GA – WJBF News Channel 6 has learned that the owner of a gun that was involved in a shooting that happened Tuesday, August 25th at W.S. Hornsby K-8 School has been arrested and charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
Kingsley J. Smith, 54, of the 2900 block of Rae’s Creek Road in Augusta, turned himself in to Richmond County Sheriff’s Office investigators Thursday. He was granted bond and has been released.
Smith’s girlfriend -reportedly- is the grandmother of the third grader accused of shooting his classmate.

Augusta, GA – WJBF News Channel 6 has learned the owner of a gun that was involved in a shooting Tuesday at W.S. Hornsby K-8 School is facing charges.
Chief Alfonzo Williams, who is the head of the Richmond County Board of Education Police Department has not identified the gun’s owner.
The gun was brought to the school by a male 3rd-grader, according to officials at a Tuesday afternoon press conference. The student had reportedly hidden the gun in his desk. He then started playing with the gun, reportedly discharging it and striking a fellow female 3rd-grader. The girl was taken to a local hospital, then treated and released.
