For high school students, balancing sports with life and schoolwork can be difficult. At WJBF, we honor the area high school athletes that excel in achieving that balance. We begin another year of honoring the best and the brightest in the CSRA at T.W. Josey High School.
Janiah Williams is a standout in the classroom and member of the National Honor Society. She’s also a three-sport star athlete but basketball is where she really excels. In fact, she plays all five positions for the Eagles, which is why her coach gave her a special nickname.
“We call her Lebron all the time,” Josey basketball coach Jawan Bailey said. “She’s a gift to have on the court. She can do it all.”
Williams attributes her success to her peers.
“My family, teammates, they push me to be better and I push them to be better too,” Williams said.
Williams has been in talks with colleges, including Wyoming, to play basketball at the collegiate level.
Congratulations to Janiah Williams, this week’s WJBF Scholar Athlete recipient.
