VIDEO: WJBF’s Deon Guillory Remembers Alison Parker As “Super Intern”

Augusta, GA – WJBF News Channel 6’s Deon Guillory once worked with WDBJ7 reporter Alison Parker, who was shot and killed during a live shot Wednesday morning in Moneta, Virginia.

Deon appeared on WJBF News Channel 6 at Noon to talk about his memories of Parker, who was an intern at the station where he worked, WHSV.

He remembered Parker as being a “super intern”, who was willing to learn and do whatever needed to be done.

Parker graduated in December 2012 from James Madison University.

Her position at WDBJ7 was her 2nd job after graduating and she “worked at the station she grew up watching”.

Along with Parker, WDBJ photojournalist Adam Ward was shot and killed. The woman Parker was interviewing, Vivki Gardner, was shot in the back and reportedly underwent surgery.

The suspect, Vester Lee Flanagan, reportedly shot himself in Faquier County in Virginia along I-66, and was found by Virginia State Patrol officers. He was transported to a hospital where he is reportedly in critical condition.

CNN has reported that Flanagan, 41, was a former employee who when by the on air name of Bryce Williams.
