Governor Deal Awards Columbia County EMA Homeland Security Grant

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga.- According to Pam Tucker with the Columbia County Emergency & Operations Division, the State of Georgia has awarded the Columbia County Emergency Management Agency a homeland security grant.

The grant totals $62,375 and will be used for equipment upgrades for the Mobile Operations Center.

Tucker states that the Mobile Operations Center was purchased with homeland security grant funds in 2004 and has been successfully utilized on numerous occasions during emergencies.

The equipment includes two 800 dual band portable radios, four Dual IP Remote Adapters to allow operators to configure radios for interoperability when needed “on the fly” during responses and three P24/NXDN radios for interoperability with various federal, state and local departments.
