GRU’s Animal Care Programs on Probationary Accreditation Until Improvements Made

AUGUSTA, Ga.- According to a press release WJBF News Channel 6 received from GRU, the school’s animal care programs are currently on a probationary accreditation until improvements are made.

The Association for Assessment and Accrediation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) has suggested that GRU take the necessary steps to improve in the following aspects:

Organization and oversight of the veterinary care program
Training for members of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
Safety training for employees working with washers and bulk sterilizers
Increased oversight of drug storage
Documentation of log sheets and medical records
Aseptic techniques and pathogen control

GRU has until September 9th to submit what changes they have made.
