Augusta, GA – There could be a resolution to one of Augusta’s eyesore problems.
The city’s Engineering Services Committee voted to revise city code to help curb unlawful dumping and overgrowth on vacant lots and land without occupants. The change allows the city to charge property owners of vacant lots in violation for a second time, in the same year. The committee agreed that the revised code could help improve the city’s look.
“Something, in order to make sure that these buildings are routinely cleaned, keep the grass cut down in the area, instead of waiting on the citizens to call and complain about the grass,” said Commissioner Dennis Williams.
The committee voted unanimously.
