Troy, MI (ABC News) – You don’t expect to find a deadly spider in your fruit, but that’s exactly what a Michigan woman found after grocery shopping at a Walmart Supercenter Monday in Troy, Michigan.
When Ariel Jackson returned home and opened her carton of grapes in her kitchen sink, a black widow spider crawled out, causing the panicked woman to call 9-1-1.
The operator simply told her to kill the arachnid, but it was her brother and boyfriend who took care of the matter for her.
As for Walmart, the company issued a statement saying, “When it comes to food safety, we take all allegations seriously. We are working to investigate all aspects of this allegation and taking appropriate measures to fully understand what may have happened. Our stores have procedures in place to help ensure products meet our high expectations for fresh, quality food.”
As for Ariel, she says she’s going to be taking a break from eating grapes for a bit.
