Columbia, SC – The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) closed a 90-mile section of I-95 between the I-20 and I-26 interchanges Sunday.
SCDOT officials say they decided to close that portion of I-95 due to a number of flooded sections of the interstate that required several detours.
Drivers should use the alternate route; I-20 Florence to I-77 around Columbia, then onto I-26 east to return to I-95. Northbound drivers would reverse this route.
Acting Secretary Christy Hall has reached out to North Carolina DOT and Georgia DOT to coordinate this information and make it available for motorists in both states.
Traveler information and storm resources is available on the SCDOT website.
