New Holland, SC – The people who typically help others during emergencies needed help themselves.
The New Holland Fire Department in Aiken County experienced flood waters during the height of the storm.
Fire Chief Dennis Jackson tells WJBF News Channel 6 the building was two feet under water.
Major trucks were moved to the town’s second station, but some equipment was left in the flooded station. Chief Jackson adds that they are running all calls out of Station 2 and that is causing them to take a longer time doing their jobs.
The nearby water system was also flooded and people in New Holland have been told to boil their water before using it.
Our Renetta DuBose has been taking a look at flooded areas in Aiken County throughout the day on Monday and she will have the latest information on the situation during our Monday evening newscasts.
