Augusta, GA – A reward is now being offered for information in the shooting death of Leon Hopkins, Jr.
The incident happened in the early morning hours of Friday, October 9th at the River Ridge Apartment Complex, which is located at 505 13th Street in Augusta.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Hopkins was hanging out with some friends when an unknown suspect started shooting, striking Hopkins and Coleyone Sheppard. Hopkins was killed and Sheppard was injured.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the assistance of the community in identifying the person that shot Sheppard and murdered Hopkins. A reward of up to $1,000 is now being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for this incident.

Augusta, GA – Richmond County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to 505 13th Street behind “A” building in reference to shots being fired.
When deputies arrived they located the body of a deceased black male who was later identified as Leon Hopkins Jr. of the 200 block of East Taylor Street. Deputies also stopped a vehicle leaving the area and came in contact with a juvenile, also of 505 13th Street, who was found to have a gunshot wound as well.
The juvenile was taken to an area hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.

Augusta, GA – Deputies on the scene confirm one person is dead and the other was sent to Georgia Regents Medical after a shooting River Ridge Apartments.

Augusta, GA.- Deputies are on the scene of a shooting at River Ridge Apartments on 13th Street near Downtown Augusta.
Dispatch confirms that two people were injured in the shooting. Their injuries are unknown at this time.
The call came in around 3:20 a.m.
