The SC Department of Health and Environmental Control and New Holland Rural Water System advises the customers of the New Holland water system, located in Aiken County to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking.
Analyses of recent bacteriological samples collected by SC DHEC indicate that the drinking water has become contaminated with Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria. Customers should vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) minute prior to drinking or cooking until otherwise notified by the water system. Also, any ice made from water which has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.
The New Holland Rural Water System and SC DHEC are presently working to correct the problem. If you should have any questions concerning this Notice, you can contact the utility at 803-564-3257 or the local DHEC office at 803-642-1637.
