Aiken, SC – The maximum building height in downtown Aiken may be on the move.

Tuesday, the Aiken Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of the city’s proposed new height ordinance, which would raise the maximum allowable building height in downtown Aiken from 50 feet to 55 feet.

The ordinance will return to the Aiken City Council for a final vote at its Tuesday, October 26th meeting.

In July, the City Council rejected a proposal that would raise the height to 75 feet.
