October is Adopt-A-Shelter Dog month, and if you’re thinking of adding a pet to your home, there are some thing you should consider.
Experts say prospective pet owners should think about work schedules and the time they can devote to a pet’s needs.
Also new pet parents have to consider small children, any allergies and if you’re a renter make sure a dog is within a property’s guidelines.
Mark Goodhart the Director of Homeward Trails Adoption Center Director says, “You should have an idea of the size of dog that you can have. The amount of space you have in your home that can accommodate a dog. Keep in mind how much dog food costs, and where you want to get that food from.”
Other costs to keep in mind routine vet visits and vaccines, and unexpected emergency care.
