Slow-Motion Video Shows Shark Preying On Sea Lion Near Alcatraz Island

San Francisco, CA (KRON) — KRON has obtained slow-motion video that has surfaced, showing the shark spotted off Alcatraz Island preying on a sea lion Saturday.

Alcatraz Cruises shot the video on Saturday. A group of tourists witnessed an eight to ten foot shark rip a part of a seal carcass close to the dock. A director of a local shark conservation group said that this was the first known recorded sighting a great white shark attacking its prey in the area.

However, the risk of a shark attacking a swimmer is considered extremely low.
