AUGUSTA, Ga.- The CSRA’s longest running fundraiser returns this weekend.
The Georgia-Carolina State Fair kicks off at the fairgrounds.
Later on Friday, Oct. 16 these fairgrounds will be filled with people excited about the return of this event.
Put on the by the Exchange Club, this fair raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity every year.
Jay Forrester, the President of The Exchange Club of Augusta, tells me the majority of the charities that benefit from this fair are children’s charities.
He says a lot of them rely on the donation from the event to meet their budget for the year.
That’s why it’s important for this fair to come back bigger and better every year.
Forrester says, “This fair helps us raise over $150,000 to give back to local charities the vast majority of that goes to children’s charities.”
This year’s fair has three new rides two adult thrill rides and one new one for the kids.
The fair’s website says advanced admission on Friday is $6 or $20 dollars for unlimited rides tonight only.
