Aiken County, SC – We have learned more information about the type of job that 48-year-old Richard Jeffery held at Silver Bluff High School prior to being placed on administrative leave and being arrested and accused of sex crimes that allegedly happened 20 years ago.
According to Aiken County Public School District spokesperson, Merry Glenne Piccolino, Jeffery was hired by the school system as a bus driver in August of 2004. A few months later, in March of 2005, he began working at Silver Bluff High School as a Safety Monitor.
This past May is when he was placed on administrative leave.

Aiken County, SC – A former employee of Silver Bluff High School is facing charges for sex crimes that allegedly happened 20 years ago.
Richard Jeffrey, 48, is charged with sexually assaulting a then-teenager between 1995 and 2000.
According to arrest warrants and police reports, Jeffrey is accused of sexually assaulting the girl repeatedly in both North Carolina and South Carolina. One of those encounters allegedly resulted in the birth of a child. He is facing 1 count of Criminal Sexual Conduct – 1st Degree, 6 counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 2nd Degree, and 6 counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 3rd Degree.
The crimes were reported in May, and Jeffrey was placed on administrative leave from Silver Bluff High School around the same time.
Jeffery was arrested last week.
