Sarasota County, FL (WFLA) – Kristen Bury, the mother of Chance Walsh who was found dead in North Port area last week, made her first court appearance Saturday morning, according to Sarasota County officials.
Kristen Bury has been extradited from South Carolina and transported to Sarasota. Two-month-old Chance Walsh was last seen in September. On Thursday, he was found dead and buried off of Elliot Court in North Port. Bury and her husband Joseph are the only suspects. They stayed in Augusta, Georgia for a short time and then they were arrested in South Carolina and charged with Child Neglect. At this time, Joseph Walsh remains behind bars.

On Friday afternoon, deputies with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Dive team jumped into the water off the El Jobean Pier in Port Charlotte. Investigators were combing the area, looking for evidence in the case. They found the baby’s body Friday afternoon.
Saturday morning at her first court appearance Kristen Bury was represented by the Public Defender’s Office. She is held on one count of Child Neglect with $150,000 and one count of first-degree Felony Murder with no bond. The video recorded in the courtroom shows that Bury kept her head down for the majority of the court proceedings.
