Sarasota, FL (AP) — Officials say the father of a missing baby is being extradited from Jasper County, South Carolina to Florida to face a Child Neglect charge.

Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kaitlyn Johnston told The Herald-Tribune on Tuesday morning that 36-year-old Joseph Walsh is being transported from the Jasper County Detention Center to the Sarasota County Jail.

Officials say they believe they found the body of little Chance Walsh after receiving a tip last week. The child was born in July, and his grandparents told officials they’d last seen him in September.

Johnston told the newspaper that Walsh should have a first-appearance hearing Wednesday. His bond is $150,000.

The child’s 32-year-old mother, Kristen Bury, was extradited from South Carolina last week. She faces charges of First-Degree Murder and Child Neglect.

It’s unclear whether Bury and Walsh have retained attorneys to contact for comment on their case.

During the investigation into Chance’s disappearance and the search for his parents, information came to light that the parents spent some time at the Red Roof Inn on Gordon Highway in Augusta, Georgia. Witnesses who came into contact with Bury told WJBF News Channel 6 they never saw a baby with them.
