Augusta, GA – Safe Homes Of Augusta is getting closer to having a new shelter.
Tuesday, investors were invited to sign the last beam before it was added to the new building.
The need for a new shelter is greater than ever. Last year, alone, more than 300 domestic violence victims in the CSRA went without help.
Safe Homes executive director Aimee Hall says a small conversation turned into a new safe haven. “One of our cornerstone partners, Jimmy Rhodes of Taxslayer, had a vision…so we started having conversations about building a new facility where we can house women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Plus, provide outreach services to the ten counties that we serve,” she said.
One out of every four women will experience domestic violence at least once in their lifetime. Safe Homes of Augusta is the only certified domestic violence shelter in the CSRA.
