Richmond and Burke County deputies are searching for a man wanted for murder.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s office says Terrance Brown was arrested for disorderly conduct.
Deputies say he had no I.D. and lied about his name.
When he was booked, no fingerprint was required, but when he was released on bond, fingerprints were required
Sheriff Richard Roundtree says during that process Brown’s real identity came up in the system.
Sheriff Roundtre says, “Plain and simple we messed up in this case. One person is not allowed to release a person.
We have a releasing officer, then a supervisor is supposed to go back and check on that before that person is released.
There is a two step process. But again it doesn’t work if you don’t follow.”
Roundtree says now the releasing officer and supervisor are being disciplined.
