Your Hometown Stories: Alicia Gaines

“My name is JoDonna Alicia Gaines and I have lived in Barnwell all my life.”

Alicia Gaines is a small town girl with big city dreams. You might have seen her before on TV.

Alicia currently works as a morning show producer for the Russ Parr morning show on WIIZ 97.9 in Barnwell, SC

Miss Gaines is a hard worker who has an eye for the big screen and is working her way up to the big time. She has been an extra in commercials for Alltel mobile, local spots and even being an extra in movies.

Alicia’s latest achievement was having a bigger role in the movie called ASHBY, starring Emma Roberts, Sarah Silverman, and Mickey Rourke. Gaines played a nurse for mickey Rourke and fit the character well.

Alicia won the role of nurse and was excited at how she was treated on the set of ASHBY

“When I came out of hair and makeup, the assistant said let me take you to your trailer. He said do you know you are Mickey Rourke’s nurse! I said you’ve got to be kidding me”

Alicia has dreamed of being in movies since she was a little girl, and doesn’t take anything for granted.

“I’m just basking in the glory, because this is all so amazing, yet humbling, because it could have been someone else”

One day very soon, Alicia Gaines will be a household name, and when she accepts the Oscar, she wants to give back and help someone else out in their journey to become a star.

“Because I said once I make it, I want to reach back and help a young woman or man that wants to do the same thing”

Alicia has some encouraging words for someone else who might have dreams of being an actress.

“Keep pushing, don’t give up, you are the only one that can accomplish that dream, if you don’t, it will be a lifetime of regret, So whatever doors open for you walk through them and thank God.
