(AUGUSTA,GA) A new fire hall could be heading to downtown Augusta.

Commissioners gave the thumbs up to buy several parcels near James Brown Boulevard, Walker Street and Telfair, for the station.

The station is expected replace two other stations Downtown, including number three on Reynolds Street.

Downtown Development officials say if station 3 is no longer needed, it should be sold for future development.

“”I think absolutely it could be valuable with the Tee Center now completed and the new parking deck and the Marriott talking about doing a new brand another hotel across the street and he growth is going towards Reynolds there’s great opportunity for private development,” says Margaret Woodard of the Downtown Development Authority.
