(AUGUSTA,GA) A move to get Augusta’s buses on line during certain holidays.
Last week we showed you the worker who was waiting downtown, for a bus to get home, only to find out they didn’t run. That’s because two years ago Veterans Day became an official city holiday.
Now, one Augusta commissioners wants to increase the budget for city transit so there’s bus service on certain holidays.
“”I know Veterans Day, for example, maybe the day after Thanksgiving, the Friday after Thanksgiving. Just take a look at all the holidays the city observes and some of these holidays I believe the buses should be running,” says Commissioner Bill Fennoy.
To cover overtime, running bus service on a city holiday would cost an additional 18 thousand dollars per day.
