Mayor Hardie Davis Releases Statement On His Office’s Budget Shortfall

Augusta, GA (WJBF) – Tuesday, Augusta Mayor Hardie Davis, Jr. addressed the media concerning budget problems in his office.

His office’s budget for fiscal year 2015 was set at $305,710. His office’s expenditures, with encumbrances, amounts to $299,550.05. That leaves Davis’ office with just $6,159.95 for the rest of the year. That amount will not be enough to pay his office’s employees, along with any bills, for the rest of the year.

To balance the budget for 2015, Davis says he will need an additional $27,000.

One of the items that stands out as an over-expenditure includes Education and Training, in which Davis’ office went $19,579.47 over budget. Salaries was another one with the office being $17,836.57 over budget. There were some items where Davis’ office spent a lot less than budgeted, like spending $64,493.25 less than was budgeted for Econonic Development Public Relations as well as spending $4,193.07 less than budgeted for Health Insurance.
