Augusta, GA (WJBF) – WJBF News Channel 6 has learned that the driver of the 18-wheeler that left a bridge on I-20 and crashed into the Augusta Canal last Friday has been released from Georgia Regents Medical Center.
Eshmon West, of Atlanta, was identified as the driver of that 18-wheeler, which was hauling frozen food.
One lane of I-20 Eastbound was closed most of the day Friday, which caused a traffic backlog for hours as Georgia Department of Transportation crews worked to repair the damage to the bridge.
At this time, charges have not been filed against West and officials have not released any indication that charges will be filed, at this time.
