Aiken, South Carolina – Aiken County is hanging out the “help wanted” sign at its animal shelter.

The county is looking for an Animal Shelter Manager and an Animal Adoption Coordinator. The Animal Shelter Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations and must have 4 years of experience. The Animal Adoption Coordinator is responsible for on and off site adoptions at the shelter. Applicants must submit their paperwork by December 21st.

Salary: $46,569.77 – $65,197.44

Job Description:  The shelter manager is responsible for day to day operations of the newly constructed animal shelter. This includes all administrative, budgetary and personnel management. Will work daily with a strong volunteer force, veterinary medical personnel, animal control officers and the general public and domesticated animals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Management or related field. Suitable experience can be substituted for academic requirements. Must have at least four years of supervisory experience.

Salary: $25,862.49 – $36,207.99

Job Description:  Under occasional supervision, performs all aspects of animal adoptions including off-premise/site events. Assures that the animal behavior testing is performed in a timely manner to facilitate successful adoptions. Ensures that prospective adopters are advised of animal care practices and responsible pet ownership requirements. Manages and promotes the foster care program. Works directly with volunteers, the general public and County staff to develop routines and schedules to assist with Shelter work. Ensures that a clean and safe environment is maintained for the animals, staff and visitors. Performs related work as required. Reports to the Chief Enforcement Officer of Animal Control. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by one to two years of experience in customer service and animal welfare/health field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
