Columbia County, GA (WJBF) – The Columbia County Commission is banning all livestock from the Evans Town Center Park.
Columbia County sources say, people riding horses tied up their animals in the park when a horse became excited, scaring those in the area with children. Officials say complaints about the problem have come in several times.
Commissioner Doug Duncan says, despite the issue being limited to horses, the ordinance will ban all livestock from the park. “We had several complaints from folks that said that there were horses in the park in the general vicinity of children and we want to make sure that it’s safe for all residents. Frankly, it’s not a place where animals should be roaming, when there are children, so it’s a safety issue.”
Dogs and other domestic animals will still be permitted in Evans Town Center Park.
