Edgefield County, SC (WJBF) – WJBF News Channel 6 has learned that the Edgefield County Assessor’s Office is currently conducting its Countywide Reassessment Program.
All counties are required under South Carolina law to implement this program every five years.
Edgefield County’s last reassessment was done in 2010 and officials tell us they expect to complete the current reassessment by December 31, 2016.
Officials say that appraisers will come out to residents’ homes to make an inspection of their property. The appraisers will be wearing an identification badge with their picture and name preprinted on the badge. They will also be riding in vehicles bearing the Edgefield County Assessor’s Office emblem.
The appraisers will proceed to inspect the property by walking around the house, if necessary, to make sure that all improvements have been identified. The appraisers will also note whether the structure has a deck, garage, swimming pool, or other amenities. If any additions or improvement have been made to the property, the appraisers will have to measure.
Officials say they appreciate residents’ cooperation and that they want to make this process as smooth as possible. Anyone with questions, can call the Edgefield County Assessor’s Office at 803-637-4066.
