Augusta, GA (WJBF) – WJBF News Channel 6 has learned that an Augusta man has died as a result of injuries suffered in a fire at this home on Sunday.
Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen tells us that 66-year-old Frank Rogers, of 1349 Wrightsboro Road, died Monday at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at 11:21 a.m.
Bowen says that Rogers was injured during the fire and he was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Bowen adds that emergency personnel received the call about the fire at 11:01 .m. on Sunday.
Rogers’s body will be sent to the GBI–Atlanta Crime Lab for an autopsy on Tuesday.
According to the Augusta Fire Department, firefighters are trying to determine what caused the fire, but preliminary reports show it may have started in the kitchen area.
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office and the Augusta Fire Department are investigating the incident.
