Augusta, GA (WJBF) – The floodgates are now closed at J. Strom Thurmond Dam.
The closing happened around 8:00 a.m. Monday morning
The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers opened the spillway gates about two weeks ago.
There was severe flooding after lots of rain in the two-state, and the Corps now says he level of Thurmond Lake is below flood stage, at nearly 330 feet.
The Savannah River is right at flood stage, right now, at about 118 feet.
