Number of Animals Surrendered Already In The Teens Since Start of 2016

Pets make great gifts, but after the holidays are over many of them are surrendered to animal shelters.

COLUMBIA COUNTY, GEORGIA – Pets make great gifts, but after the holidays are over many of them are surrendered to animal shelters.

Columbia County Animal Services has taken in 15 animals since the beginning of this year.

Although, not all of them are from holiday adoptions Department Manager Linda Glasscock says the animals are usually given up after the 1st year.

“Training is a big thing and we try to educate people, especially when it comes to puppies. you have got to give them training. You have got to ge them through that 2-year-old puppy stage. You have got to do those types of things for it to work,” Linda Glasscock told WJBF News Channel 6.

Columbia County Animal Services is hosting a rabies and micro-chipping clinic soon. Once a date has been set we will let you know.
