Former UGA wideout Mitchell reads his children’s book in Thomson

Thomson, GA. (WJBF) — Malcolm Mitchell’s football career is over in Athens but that doesn’t mean he’s done reading at schools across the state. Friday morning, Mitchell was at Thomson High School’s auditorium to read his book, “The Magician’s Hat,” to young children.

“Being able to share special moments with kids, moments that I don’t remember growing up, is something that definitely puts a smile on my face,” Mitchell said.

Mitchell sees these as important trips to stress the benefits of beginning to read at an early age.

“Reading definitely plays a big role in reaching your full potential,” he said. “I’ve learned that through reading myself. And it almost has sort of magical powers that I don’t think you can get from anywhere else, so I always encourage people to keep reading.”

Football-wise, Mitchell will spend the next few months preparing for the NFL Draft. Next up is the Senior Bowl on January 30th and then the NFL Combine in February.

Most experts project Mitchell going somewhere between the 4th to 6th round of the Draft.
