Thomson, GA (WJBF) – Thomson High School was placed on soft lockdown for a while on Tuesday.
According to a post on the McDuffie County School System’s Facebook page, the lockdown was a precautionary measure.
According to the post, “the lockdown was a result of the school administration contacting the central office regarding speculation of a potential altercation which was to occur between a group of students at the conclusion of the school day. As there were no students in eminent danger, the school system did not enact the call notification system. Local law enforcement agencies were contacted and provided additional assistance to the McDuffie County School System Resource Officers during the afternoon dismissal of Thomson High School.
Thomson High School followed its safety plan completely by enacting a soft lockdown of the school campus. All students and staff were safe at all times and did an incredible job of carrying out the school emergency plan. As always, our primary focus is to ensure the safety of all students.”
