Caring for Carolina: McCormick County to celebrate 100th anniversary

McCormick County, SC – On February 19, 2016, McCormick County will celebrate their 100th anniversary with a proclamation ceremony at the historic McCormick courthouse at 12 p.m.

McCormick County was formed in 1916 from parts of Edgefield, Abbeville, and Greenwood counties. One hundred years later, McCormick County now boasts thriving residential communities and a local arts center called The MACK (McCormick Art Council at the Keturah).

The county also boasts 72,000 acres of lake shoreline that spans 1,200 miles. McCormick County calls Lake Thurmond their best kept secret in natural resources where residents enjoy fishing, camping, hiking, kayaking and other leisure activities on the lake.
