(AUGUSTA,GA) Augusta’s Fire Chief is back on the job.
Augusta commissioners voting to rehire James one week after James resigned to take a new job in York County South Carolina.
But York County withdrew the James job off.
This coming after Augusta’s fire fighter association accused James of miss- using 5 million dollars on problem plagued fire trucks.
“Our fire Chief has done a stellar job since he’s been in that role if there was any information that was sent to York if that be true to disparage him and disparage his career I vehemently voice my displeasure with that.
Augusta’s Fire Fighter Union President says he did not contract York County about the allegation against James but says some County officials did contract him.
Three commissioners Wayne Guilfoyle Mayor Pro-Tem, Grady Smith and Sean Frantom voted against rehiring James.
