Aiken, S.C. – Women Enlightened for Better Health (WE), Aiken Regional Medical Centers’ women’s health initiative, is hosting the Fifth Annual Oyster Roast to benefit the Best Chance Network.
All proceeds stay right here in Aiken County and will help pay for yearly screening mammograms for women who can’t afford it.
When detected early, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer is as high as 98 percent.
However, the number of screening mammograms provided by the Best Chance Network, an affiliate of the American Cancer Society, has decreased by half. Today, about 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime, according to the American Cancer Society.
This event helps the WE program continue their mission of offering support and education for women who want to make better, more informed health decisions.
