Augusta, GA (WJBF) – Jury selection got underway Monday in a Richmond County court room for a woman who is accused of stabbing and killing her 2-year-old daughter in Augusta back in 2013.
Marina Mae Middlebrooks is accused is accused of stabbing her daughter, Sky Allen, multiple times before the child was thrown from her mother’s vehicle in a crash on Ray Owens Road in Appling, Georgia back in May of 2013.
Middlebrooks was indicted that same year on charges of Malice Murder and Cruelty to Children in the First Degree.
She is also facing charges in connection to the crash in Columbia County.
Middlebrooks entered a plea of “not guilty by reason of insanity” during a court appearance on Tuesday, February 16th.
